"For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?" Luke 14:28
To command results in 2021, God wants you to sit down and marshall out what you intend to do or accomplish. You need to set goals and work assiduously with a view to achieving them. As a child of God, for any of your goals to achieve results, it must be God-birthed and God-driven. Any goal that does not command His approval, will not command His involvement! The Bible says,
"A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps." Proverbs 16:9
You may make all your plans or set all the goals but God will ultimately accomplish His sovereign desires.
It is foolishness not to set goals! And it is outright pride to set goals with no thought of God.
It is fantastic to make plans, as long as you leave room for God to change your plans, if need be. His goals take precedence over yours. If you don't want to labour or pursue goals in vain, you must submit to God's sovereign will. The Bible says,
"Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain." Psalm 127:1
How to set and attain goals:
1. Capture God's will first
Before setting your goals you must be prepared and willing to answer these questions: What is the will of God for me in 2021? Am I willing to surrender my own will to His? Am I prepared to seek His kingdom first?
You must set your goals in accordance with God’s will, His kingdom agenda and under His leadership.
2. Capture a plan!
A wiseman said, "Failing to plan is planning to fail," In order to command results in the coming year, you need a clear road map that will guide you on the best possible route to follow in achieving your goals. Sit down and draw up a precise plan of the actions necessary to achieve your goals, and then set the ball rolling. Get down to business!
Don't forget, "If you aim at nothing, you will hit at nothing!" It is wise to set few achievable goals! Of what benefit it is to set many goals and achieve nothing?
3. Capture the Results!
"She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night."Proverbs 31:18
Through the eyes of vision or faith the virtuous woman in this passage, saw the results of her labour. And she was willing to labour extra -time! Imagine or visualize that you have already achieved your goal. You must believe in advance that you will reach your goal no matter what, because as long as you believe that success is assured, you will be sure to make the maximum effort towards achieving your goal. Be like the virtuous woman!
