Of a truth, many glasses of water cannot quench or stop a man of passion!
Passion is what fires his unstoppable and unrelenting drive. You need passion to get things done. It is a passion that wakes you up in the morning and drives you towards the achievement of your goals. If you are truly passionate about your life goals or work, you will not need anybody to encourage or push you before stepping out. You will require little or no supervision to get your job done. When I gave my life to Jesus Christ, I was enamoured to follow Him all the way, without a follow-up from the brethren. I was simply passionate about Christ, being fully persuaded and compelled to go all the way with Him. What was my driving force? The passion of course!
What is passion?
Passion is an ardent love or affection, an intense feeling or conviction. Passion is a strong liking or desire for something or someone. It is a devotion to some activity, object, or concept. It is also a strong sexual desire or drive. Passion can be good or bad; sinful or righteous, and it can be overwhelming and override rationality. Have you ever seen passionate football fans before? Their passion can push them beyond rationality! These days, instead of people burning with passion for godly things, they are busy burning with passion for ungodly things.
I categorize passion into two kinds:
1. Ungodly, unholy passion
2. Godly, holy passion
Ungodly passion manifests itself in evil, dishonorable and sinful acts.
"For this reason, God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature." Romans 1:26 ESV
While the godly passion manifests itself in good and righteous acts.
A holy passion is a passion inflamed by a godly motive. What's the category of your passion?
How to know if you are a passion-driven person:
1. If you are desperately longing for someone or something!
"My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God." Psalm 84:2
2. If you are loving someone or something earnestly!
"Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins." 1 Peter 4:8 ESV
3. If you are doing your work or something heartily!
"And whatsoever ye do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men." Colossians 3:23
I decree and declare that you will engage the power of passion to command outstanding results in godly ventures in Jesus' mighty name.
