Understanding Desire
"Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing." Psalms 145:16

Our God is the One who satisfies the desire of every living thing! And He is set to satisfy your heart's desire! God is set to answer you when you communicate your desire to Him in prayers. "Thou hast given him his heart's desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah." Psalms 21:2

What is desire?
Desire is a strong feeling of wanting to have something or wishing for something to happen. Desire is powerful! It is your desire that provokes your action and procures your results. Without desire, nothing of note or significance will be accomplished. Desire is a moving or motivating force that runs our world.

Take a look around you and you will see the proofs or evidence of desire in every human act, good or bad. Someone said, "Every deed that we do, good or bad, is prompted by Desire."
With desire, you can change your status or story.

In 1Chronicles 4, we see how Jabez changed the narrative of his life via the instrumentality of desire. Yes, his name meant pain and his mother expected him to live out his life in pain or sorrow. But he felt otherwise, so he intensely desired that the God of Israel might change his story! He expressed that desire desperately in prayer and God heard him and blessed him. Without the power of desire being expressed, he would not have been blessed.

You too can change your story via the power of desire! When you delight yourself in the Lord, your desires shall be satisfied. The Bible says, "Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart." Psalms 37:4

One thing is sure, God cannot frustrate your godly desires, but He will surely frustrate the desires of the wicked! David prayed thus: "Grant not, O LORD, the desires of the wicked: further not his wicked device; lest they exalt themselves." Psalms 140:8

Let's x-ray 3 bible characters and their holy desires:

1. Job and his desire to reason with God!

"Surely I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God." Job 13:3

It is a holy desire to seek and to reason with God Almighty!
"Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool." Isaiah 1:18

2. David and his desire to dwell in God's house!

"One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple." Psalms 27:4

"Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee."
Psalms 73:25

3. Paul and his desire for the salvation of Israel!

"Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge." Romans 10:1-2

I decree and declare that your godly and kingdom driven desires will be accomplished in Jesus mighty name.

Yours sincerely,
Joe Jesimiel Ogbe
