Remember me Oh God

"And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God." Acts 10:31

The God who remembered Cornelius is still in the business of remembering people. The God who remembered Abraham in the wake of Sodom and Gomorrah’s destruction is still alive. The God who remembered Hannah after she had cried out to Him for conception is still faithful to whosoever calls on Him. What about Rachael? God remembered her too and she conceived a son. The Bible says, "And God remembered Rachel, and God hearkened to her and opened her womb. And she conceived, and bare a son; and said, God hath taken away my reproach:" Genesis 30:22-23

The truth is that divine remembrance will end shame and reproaches! It will change your story or status. When God remembers you, He will focus His attention on you and your needs or challenges to address and solve them. You can provoke divine remembrance! Yes, you can! Only cry out to Him in faith: "Remember me Oh God!"

Let's consider 3 avenues to provoking divine remembrance:

1. Prayer

"Now, therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them." Exodus 3:9

We can provoke divine remembrance by crying to God in prayers. When God remembered the children of Israel in the land of captivity and bondage, He decided to act on their behalf, by sending a deliverer, Moses, to secure their freedom. We can also cry out in prayers to God like David: "Remember me, O LORD, with the favour, that thou bearest unto thy people: O visit me with thy salvation;" Psalms 106:4

The story of Cornelius shows clearly that God records and responds to our prayers. God visited him because of his regular and consistent prayer lifestyle! May God remember all your prayers in Jesus mighty name!

2. Offerings

"Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt sacrifice." Psalms 20:3

God keeps a record of all our offerings! He is very much interested in what we bring to church as our tithes and offerings. In Luke 21: 1-4, we see how our Lord Jesus took notice of what people brought to God as offerings. Of special interest and mention, was a certain poor widow who cast in two mites. Her story is a valid lesson that anyone can give! Poverty must not stop people from giving! As giving do procure or provoke divine remembrance. Do you know that Cornelius moved the heart of God by his givings? Don't be a prayer warrior without a giving lifestyle!

3. Good deeds

"Remember me, O my God, concerning this, and wipe not out the good deeds that I have done for the house of my God, and the offices thereof." Nehemiah 13:14

Every good deed or work done in God's name and for the good of humanity will never be wiped off. Our good deeds are eternally recorded in heaven. In Matthew 5:16, we are enjoined to: "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." God designed our good deeds to bring Him glory! Reading the story of Dorcas in Acts 9:36-39, I'm convinced that she must have experienced the miracle of resurrection because she was "full of good works and alms deeds"

I pray that God will remember your prayers, offerings and good works in Jesus mighty name.

Yours sincerely,

Joe Jesimiel Ogbe
