Giving to Men of God

"Then said Saul to his servant, But, behold, if we go, what shall we bring the man? for the bread is spent in our vessels, and there is not a present to bring to the man of God: what have we?
And the servant answered Saul again, and said, Behold, I have here at hand the fourth part of a shekel of silver: that will I give to the man of God, to tell us our way." 1 Samuel 9:7-8

Many believers think that when they give offerings and tithes in church, they are giving to the man of God. No! It is a misconception to think so.

There is a difference between giving to the man of God and giving toward the work of God! The man of God is not the church or ministry! The man of God is different from the ministry he heads. As such the ministry account must not be mixed with personal account of the pastor.
Giving to support the men of God is a wise thing to do. It is an investment with remarkable rewards for you the giver.

In Matthew 10:41, we are enjoined to receive a prophet in the name of a prophet so that we may receive a prophet's reward. It is in our best interest to give men of God out of God's financial and material blessings in our lives. We don't have to give them because they are needy. No! We give because of the selfless service they render to God and us.

We give to tap into the grace they carry! Apostle Paul told Philippian Christians that: "Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account." Giving to men of God is "a sweet-smelling sacrifice that is acceptable and pleasing to God."

The powerful prayer Apostle Paul offered in Philippians 4:19, (But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.) was a function of some generous gifts he had received from the brethren.

Do you want your man of God or pastor to shower on you prayers and blessings? Then you must give financial and material gifts to him regularly. As your spiritual parents, you must consider them in your budget as you do with biological parents.

Let's consider 3 reasons why you must give to men of God:

1. Because Jesus Christ was supported by people during His earthly ministry!
"And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, a nd many others, which ministered unto him of their substance."
Luke 8:3
2. Because we are instructed to give to those who teach and impart us with the Word of God!
"Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things."
Galatians 6:6
"If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?"
1 Corinthians 9:11

3. Because we want the blessing to rest in our homes!
"And the first of all the firstfruits of all things, and every oblation of all, of every sort of your oblations, shall be the priest's: ye shall also give unto the priest the first of your dough, that he may cause the blessing to rest in thine house."Ezekiel 44:30

I decree and declare that you will receive bumper harvest of rewards as you give to men of God in your life in Jesus mighty name!

Yours sincerely,
