Value of Intercession

"Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God." Romans 8:26-27
If the Holy Spirit is still making intercession for us, then we don't have any excuse for not interceding for one another. Intercession is the business of all believers!
In 1Timothy 2:1, Apostle Paul exhorts us to engage in supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks for all men.

What is intercession?

Intercession is a type of prayer that pleads with God for the needs of others. Intercession is about taking hold of God's will and refusing to let go until His will is established in the life of the person or people you are praying for. We are expected to intercede for our land or country! God is in dire need of intercessors today! May God find you as an intercessor for your family, church, community and nation in Jesus mighty name!

"And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none."Ezekiel 22:30

Do you know that it is even a sin not to pray or intercede for others? In 1 Samuel 12:23, Samuel saw it as a sin if he failed to pray for Israel! Today, many of us are guilty of selfishness, as we have become very selfish or self-centered in our prayers. Day in day out, we bombard the gates of heaven, asking for one blessing or the other without considering other people. We are not bothered about the prayer needs of our brothers and sisters, friends, colleagues at work and even our enemies.

God desires that we lift one another up in our prayers. Do you know of any Christian brother or sister going through hard times or challenges? Pray for such a person! Bear their burdens in your prayers. Arise and travail in prayers again and again on their behalf.

Why intercession is a must:

1. Because Jesus Christ is interceding for us !
"Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us."Romans 8:34

"Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them."Hebrews 7:25

We must intercede for others because Jesus Christ is at the right hand of God interceding for us, showing us the necessity and example of praying for others.

2. Apostle Paul and co prayed for others, giving us a worthy example to follow.
"For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;" Colossians 1:9

3. The profitability or benefit of praying for others.
"And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before." Job 42:10

It was when Job prayed for his friends that the Lord restored his fortunes! It is wisdom to intercede for others. It is germane to stand in the gap for others!

I decree and declare that you will experience a mega restoration as you pray for others in Jesus mighty name.

Yours sincerely,
