Becoming A Blessing

"And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing."Genesis 12:2

God is the Source of all blessings! God is still in the business of blessing people. The question is why does God want to bless us?

The answer is simple! He wants to bless us not just to make our lives comfortable and prosperous, but for our lives to become channels of His blessings to others. For instance, God comforts us to comfort others!

The Bible says,
"Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God."2 Corinthians 1:4

Let's consider 3 examples of people who became a blessing:

1. Father Abraham!
From the passage under review, we see how God promised to bless Abraham in order for Abraham to be a blessing! Today, Abraham has become a blessing to many families and nations of the world. Jesus as a seed of Abraham is a blessing to me and my family! The Bible says,
"That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith." Galatians 3:14
2. The Jews!
"I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles."Isaiah 42:6
Who are the Gentiles? Gentiles are the people who are not Jewish. Out of several peoples in the world, God chose the Jewish people to become His special people to show forth His glory among the nations of the world. They are chosen and blessed by God so that they could shine forth God's light to unbelieving nations.

Today, with all the persecutions that the Jewish people faced all over the world, they still remain a veritable template of a blessed people. A visit to Israel would validate or butress my assertion!

3. Christians!
"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him..."1 Peter 2:9
As a Christian, you are a veritable example of a blessed person. God chose you to show forth His praise! You are chosen to follow Him not just to improve your own life but to improve the lives of others.

Do you see yourself as a salt or light to your world? Do you know why God is blessing you financially? He blessed you to bother about people! Your wealth is for the good of others, not just for yourself alone!

I decree and declare that you will be greatly blessed so that you may become a blessing to your world in Jesus mighty name!

Yours sincerely,
